Fisthammer Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?
We are Fisthammer, an extreme death metal band based out of Downingtown, PA. We started out in 2008, and after a lot of tours and line-up changes, we released our debut album, Devour All You See in January of 2012.

2. How would you describe your musical sound?
Fisthammer has always attempted to write music that would appeal both metal fans, and people who aren't as familiar with the genre. As musicians, we've always have the passion to write challenging riffs that push our abilities further At the same time, we strive to write songs with unique melodies. Our goal is to create a sound that pushes our limitations as musicians that will also get stuck in your head. I feel we've done that with Devour All You See

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Devour All You See branches out into some different sub topics at times, but the general theme of the album focuses on apocalyptic themes. For us, we've always tried to keep the lyrical content brutal and graphic, matching the sound of the riffs. We definitely have some pretty fucked up lyrical content as heard in songs Bullet Raped and Harvest. A lot of the album focuses on destruction on a larger scale, which to me, is a much more realistic and powerful subject.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
The name was invented by a former member and Max Svalgard. As the band was just starting out, I was asked to join in the winter of 08. I hadn't even heard the music yet, but I was so attracted to the name, so I joined on the spot hahaha. That, and Max was wearing an Amon Amarth shirt. That helped.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance? We've had a lot of killer shows out 2011 summer tour. It was the first tour with guitarist Kevin Welch, and the reception from the crowds were killer. Cities such as New Orleans and Savannah have given us some of our most memorable shows. We try to make a Fisthammer show a different experience than your average death metal concert. Bringing as much visual aid to the show as possible is something I strive to do. Stage banners, 3 man vocals, etc. We also focus very hard on executing our hardest parts on the CD as accurately as possible live. As for me, my goal behind the drumset is to keep the energy as relentless as possible for start to finish.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?
We have a few bigger shows coming up in Philly within the next couple months. We are currently in the process of booking a 5 week entire US tour, which will be our longest to date. The tour will be late July into August, from PA to California. As for the fall, we play for a shorter tour, and then hopefully we'll be in the process of recording our 2nd album.

7. On a worldwide level how has your music been recieved by extreme metal fans?
So far, we've heard nothing by great things from overseas. Everyday online, its more and more fans from, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, etc, which is very exciting. I think the secret for Fisthammer is our communication skills within the band. Each of us has our own unique music taste, but when it comes to Fisthammer music, nothing gets created unless we are agree on the sound. Sometimes, that means feelings getting hurt in the process but ultimately the fans can tell when the band is in love with their own music. Thats what counts.

8. Are there any other projects besides this band or is this a full time line-up?
I play in a Rock band called On Top who released their debut album in Fall of 2011. Max is also involved in a few different projects as well. I personally love the experience I gain from playing all styles of music. Although metal is my passion, becoming the best drummer I can be is a never ending goal for me, and to do that, I feel I must learn all styles of music the best I can. Fisthammer is always my main focus though. I'm very lucky to have so many people in my life that are willing to see that, and still work with me.

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
About three months prior to going into the studio for Devour All You See, we felt we we're writing some of our best music yet. Razorwaves and Doom of the Gods were our last two songs we wrote for the album, and I feel are two of the strongest. After the release, we've been cranking out so many new songs, its getting hard to keep up haha. What's most important to me, is that we keep variety throughout the next album. We will obviously have the fast shit in there, as well as the groove parts, melodic parts, and the classic ballad track.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Amon Amarth has always been a band favorite throughout the years. Music that makes you wanna charge into a battle. Bands like Nile, Behemoth, Decapitated, and Gojira really inspire us. For me, I've always been drawn to dark/evil music. Metal or not. For me to get excited, it has to be more than just a blistering fast riff. I want to feel the power and darkness a band can deliver. Nowadays, I've been excited with all the new metal albums coming out. Ritual by Black Dahlia Murder was fantastic. Entity by Origin is also one of my favorite death metal albums lately. New Psycroptic rules. Some much good shit.

11. What role does Occultism or Mythology play in the music?
A large amount of our lyrical content is based around satanic and norse "mythology" and the reasoning is that Satanism is about freedom and power and rebelling against what you have been taught and choosing for yourself, and odinism is about understanding that fate is inevitable and living and dying with honor.

12. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
For me, there isn't too much in my life that is not in some way connected to music. I teach drums/music 6 days a week, the 7th being an all band practice day. I enjoy traveling, although when I have the time, staying at home relaxing by myself is something I can't see every getting old. Other than that, video games and reading.

13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Thanks for the interview! If you haven't heard Fisthammer's Devour All You See, you can youtube us, facebook us, or purchase our album via Itunes or at http://hpgd.comoj.com/store/hpgd038.html

Keep an eye out for tour dates near you, we will most likely be in your state this summer!

LLVME Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

Eric: We’re currently consolidating the band with new members to prepare the songs of our new album so we can go on stage and give a few gigs; it’s not easy to find people who are interested, have time and share the same music tastes as us, but we are about to finish our line-up and will begin to rehearse very soon.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new release and how it differs from previous recordings?

Eric: With this album we wanted to stop thinking on what we were composing as long as it sounded great, and the result has been a very unpredictable album full of variety. Each song is very different to the rest and, however, they all fit perfectly. It’s dark and melodic at the same time; you don’t know what will come next when you are listening to a song and that’s a very positive point for us. It differs from the previous album in the fact that it is more melodic and less doomy, probably because it has a more modern point of view since the songs are more direct, aggressive and catchy. We’ve still maintained our folk roots with violin, bagpipes and hurdy-gurdy melodies, which is what characterises Llvme’s rural sound and makes the listening of the album very attractive and we’ve added female vocals in a few songs, so, those who listen to this new release expect a dark sound with magic melodies and be open to surprises ;)

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

Nandu: We talk about our region: our costumes, our ancient kingdom, our ancient heroes, our ancestors... The concept of “Yía the nuesu” (in english “is our”) is the feeling of our “membership” to the leonese country and to our culture. For example, “Helmántica” (which is the ancient name of our city, Salamanca) talks about the resistance of the celtic people to Hanibal in the year 220 before Christ, “Conceyu” is about the leonese culture, “Purtiellu de la llïaltá” is a tribute to Bellido Dolfos, a leonese knight who killed the Castile's king in the middle ages to defend the leonese kingdom... We don't need to write about viking or something similar because we're not viking, we're from the south of europe and we have our own culture and our own history.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

Nandu: “Llume” means fire and we love fire. But don't worry, we're not pyromanics!

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

Eric: One of our best memories is a show we played in our hometown Salamanca after the release of our first album; we didn’t expect that great reception and people got crazy when we started to play.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?

Eric: We wish we could, but I’m afraid our personal lives don’t allow us to do much touring.

7. On a worldwide level how has your music been recieved by fans of black, doom and folk metal?

Eric: We are very glad to see how the first album was rated and reviewed by webs, magazines, reviewers, etc. It was good received mainly by doom metal fans since the album took that style direction, but we think this new release will be welcomed by all of them the same way since the styles are more balanced.

8. Are there any other projects besides this band or is this a full time line-up?

Eric: Some of us have other bands, but Llvme is our main project.

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

Eric: That’s not easy to say to be honest, because our music tastes change very often and we don’t like to label what we compose as long as it convinces us. But, Llvme’s sound will probably more and more difficult to label in the future.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Eric: Nandu and me have quiet a few bands in common, but have a different taste on what we usually listen to everyday, so when we compose separately the result is obviously different. He’s up to doom/black/folk bands and is influenced by My dying bride, Shape of despair, Negura bunget etc. and I’m more interested in metalcore bands currently, although it has nothing to do with our sound.

11. How would you describe your views on Paganism?

Nandu: The paganism is loving the nature and the planet. We only have one and we have to take care it.

12. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Eric: We love to escape from the city when we can and get lost in nature; the mountains and the fresh air of our forests make us feel alive. Going to the cinema, gigs or partying like everybody does is also cool for us ;)

Nandu: Right now, my main interest is “Song of fire and ice”. I can't stop reading!!!!

13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Eric: We hope you enjoy this new album which we did with a lot of effort and which is coming out on 26th of March. We appreciate very much your interest and a massive thank you for all of you reading this interview.

Sectorial Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?
Greetings to readers! Band lives for almost 10 years. This is the only serious one, we have ever played in. Ivan (Vocal, native instruments) and Igor (drums) and other 2 guys was a classmates, so they were standing at the origins of what we do now. After some time Dmitriy (guitar, vocal) connected to the band and the last brick in our foundation was Boris (bass, vocal). Because of many reasons we managed to release 3 EP albums and 1 LP, but have played hundred of gigs all over Ukraine and Russia. But those reasons have made us much more stronger then we would like to be)). So hard work at ourselves and plenty of obstacles are not last points in the establishment of the band ideology.

2. How would you describe your musical sound?

There is big difference in how we see our sound and how people see it. Igor: I would like to give everything to hear my and the whole band playing from aside. So we make a audio & video recording of each gig or important rehearsal and try to look at our work from aside. It’s good for excluding the mistakes too. Try, it really helps. As for style frames we should say that we are not critics, so don`t want to take their job)). We do all we like and no matter how it’s called. You can find grind, crust, thrash, hardcore, black and death metal, etc. in a combination with our native folk so it was hard to write tags to our new release. We have very critical attitude to the track production and if we would think about style, genre or something we will go crazy for sure. The main thing is - if new shit truly rocks me - I will rock you. No false, it works.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

People are in rights to make own decisions. These perverted decisions are subjects and reasons for our music mostly. World is full of shit and sweets - we can see it and enjoy or moan with closed eyes. Mankind is not a crown of nature; we all have too much work to do. We are not teachers or accusing one`s but if someone will be motivated to improve himself by our deeds it would be "epic win" for us totally.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the band’s name?

Sectorial - is a containing part of any whole one, like microcosm in Macrocosm. In our band each member is separate unit, another world and our band`s deeds combine them into something really native for us. Maybe in other case we would never be friends but music and all what we do together makes some kind of family. From tiny split to big happiness - all is in Sectorial`s ethos.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

Igor: Actually I don`t divide into the best or worst show. Anyway after the show, when everything is over, emotions and energy are being sorbet by your body and mind, you are driving home with one only thing. It`s experience. The only one thing which differ true musician from a pretender. As for me when you have some unexplained connection with a fans - that`s a good show, other shit is technical moments.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?

Sure, our first LP are ready to see the world. We have confirmed about 10 gigs all over Ukraine and other is TBA at the moment. But I know that it would be Russia, maybe Belorussia. As for Europe - we don`t have any direct relationships with booking managers. But we`ve made anything that depends on us - own big bus, totally equipped road backline and possibility for crossing a borders. So if you are interested - plz contact us by email sectorial.band@gmail.com

7. On a worldwide level how has your music been received by underground metal fans worldwide?

Without any kind of epic, there is a rule - any new club we played in soon send us an invitation or we have some other possibilities to come back there and our new friends there are happy. We are well known as a live band, so the last LP was only an attempt to bring all energy of the live show to CD. Hope it will become a good tradition for the next visiting of new place. As for audio - many people like the way we use native instruments in hard music. We think that everyone may find his own in our works, question is - does he really need it now? We even have a fan in friends; he is Aghori prophet and live in Spain. His "religion" seems quite strange for many peoples, but we don`t care. His name is Bhairavananda and he really enjoyed our stuff. So the first single "Too Much?" before LP "E.A.R.T.H." is Aghori meditation soundtrack now. People get in touch with our audio and video on popular social networks, YouTube mostly. We have official band site www.sectorialband.com under construction at the moment.

8. Currently you are signed to Metal Scrap Records; how did you get in
contact with this label and how would you describe the support that they
have given you so far?
Our good friends from Crusher band have already released their debut work with Metal Scrap. So as we decided to make a common tour with them the decision came quick. Situation with music promotion is not simple today, no serious business on that - no serious propositions. All is kept by people who love this and believe in what they do. Label`s support is on high level, everything goes clear and distinctly. It`s really important, no matter what you do. We keep contact with Anatoliy and have a best regards for him. So our music and merch will be available for underground metal fans worldwide thanks to Anatoliy and Metal Scrap Records.

9. Are there any other projects besides this band or is this full time line up?

No, there are no other projects. Sure some of us have helped some bands, but it was totally trial playing. We like to jam and it’s enough for us.

10. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

Its hard question. The clearest answer is - we don`t know))). Sure it would be hard and fast tempo energetic and atmospheric music, but we can`t outline any frames of it now. As we`ve spoken before - if we will be rocked by own stuff and will believe in it we will surely rock our fans. Genre direction is important but not so as the true portray that comes from the inside.

11. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Our music tastes are very wide. From new age and classics to hard stuff we don`t have any icons. There are too many bands with good music to enumerate. In different time some of them made influence on our music and some of them were passing by.

12. Does Satanism or Occultism play any role in the music?

No, we leave it to people who have more time for this. For the rest we have created track "Religion - Business". It`s fun to look at the bands with all of this "pure evil" symbols. Those who really deal with this are doing real things.

13. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Needless to say that the music doesn`t feed us. So Ivan and Igor work at music company, selling all kind of music instruments and equipment. Boris is raising IT-stuff in international IT-company. And Dmitriy in several months will finish his studying for sociologist. Igor: as for me my interests outside of music is closely related to the music. I love drums, fixing, tuning and watching. I love big cars so they can transport a lot of my drums and so on. There was a time when I was sleeping for 4-5 hours and the rest time was working or playing. Great moments! Ivan: in some cases so do I. I find myself in self doing and playing on native instruments. Like to lift my body and press up for better feeling yourself. Anyway we have some thin clue which unites each member and band ideology in whole. It`s self-evolution. We think that a man is a man only when he is going to the point. Motion defines our consciousness. When you don`t make any moves you are not standing at one place, your losing, falling as time goes quick.

14. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Jump higher than your bar, strike stronger then you let to yourself, keep progress in your moving to points! Life is too short to waste it. Thnx to all for your time, hope to meet in real at our gig. Please e-mail us or directly on Metal Scrap for new CD`s or add us on Facebook for other questions. Cheerz!

Drums range from mid paced to fast drumming with a great amount of blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful tone with grinding riffs that dominate throughout the recording, as for the flutes which are only utilized briefly on a couple of songs they give the music mid 60's feeling, in addition there are some sound effects and folk instruments being used on certain songs of this recording.

Rhythm guitars range from mid paced to fast riffing that combines black metal, thrash, grind and crustcore together to create a sound of it owns, while the lead guitars are very chaotic sounding crustcore/metal guitar solos and leads.

Vocals are mostly blackened/death metal screams and growls that are heavily influenced by crust and thrash with some samples from movies being used on some songs, while the lyrics hateful, anti religion and everyday themes as for the production it has a very strong, heavy and powerful sound to it.

In my opinion Sectorial are a very great sounding black/thrash/grind/crustcore hybrid and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "He Who Eats The Tale" "Passing By" "Internal Enemy" and "Religion-Business". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Omission Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Hailz!!! Well these days are frenetic searching for a new label to release the 3rd album, will be recorded end april and we want to release it in september, pre production is done, all artwork is also done, in between we have some gigs, the biggest in Portugal SWR Barroselas.
Quite productive have to say.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the newer material and how it differs from previous releases?
Well speaking of Mercilles Jaws from Hell, the main difference is in the solos, more melodic and less shred, the music is in the same path as Thrash Metal is Violence, the sound is a bit cleaner...but not too much.

3. What at are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
The lyrics are based in a few books, basically we speak about revenge, anti religion and being free of mind, no chains, only on stage haha.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
The band picked the name after the Testament song Sins of Omission, and with so many Omissions done by Catolic church we thought it was perfect, besides not ending in TOR like many bands now we thought was a good War name.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
We cannot judge ouselfs, that is a work for the press, what I read is that we have a good live performance, critics in Spain and Portugal use to say that we destroy the stages...When we go onstage we just deliver everything we have, our anger ,violence, aggression...people can feel that we give 1000% for their ticket.

6. Are there any touring plans for the future?
We have families and jobs so it's difficult for us to tour, what we do is to play in weekend fests, but now I'm (Marco) the only one with a job so the other guys can go on tour without me haha, we will try to play in bigger fests all over Europe, and we can think on mini tours if its a good business for us.

7. Currently War Productions re-issued your album on cassette how did you feel about the release?
Great!!! They already released a tape with the 2nd and 3rd demo and the first record too, they are friends and do it because they like it, in Omission we are old guys used to vinyl and tapes so it's great to have our music in all possible formats.

8. On a worldwide level how has your music been recieved by underground metal fans?
We have good reviews all over, from malasia where we are a part of a 4 way split cd with Thrashingfist Demons, in Greece we have good friends in Convixion and Greg from Eat Metal Records, Japan Miki at Stakk records also helped us selling some records there...US I don't have a clue...South america we have a few friends from Brazil and Mexico...usually people who write us is to give their support.

9. Are there any other projects besides this band or is this a full time line-up?
This is is our main band, than each one of us has other side projects, James plays in Wolfencross, Daviti in Moñigo, Patillas has a secret project hahaha...I don't know if I can reveal it and I'm helping Decayed with the solos in studio, the focus is OMISSION.

10. What direction do you see the music heading into on future releases?
Our music will be more and more aggressive and violent, the new tracks are heavier, many hellish thrash riffs and a lot of blast beats, actually i'm listening to the pre-production sent by the guys while answering this interview (I live in Lisbon and the rest in Madrid) and the guys did a hell of a job, i'll destroy it with shity solos hahahaha. It's powerfull.

11. What are some of the bands and musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Omission influences hum... all kind of old Thrash Metal, Punk, NWOBHM, new black metal...a bit of the best.
Right now I'm listening to the new Van Halen to learn a bit hahaha, the other guys I don't know, Patillas listens to all kind of shit with metal in the end, James is more into pagan black stuff and Daviti likes Grind...I stay with my oldies from the NWOBHM.

12. What role does Satanism and Occultism play in your music and how would you describe your vies on these topics
We use satanic images and expressions as a major form of freedom of expression. We are against all kind of religions, we believe in ourselfs, nothing else, we can burn a bible or a coran or a satanic bible, we don't follow. Religion is for sheeps, we just use it.

13. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Being with the family takes all my time, like football, trying to be away from politics, Daviti is a freak for tv animation, the others the usuall stuff. going out see some gigs... alcohol and drungs for all.

14. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Be prepared for the new album to be unleashed in September a blast of Satanicspeed Thrash Metal in your face.
Thnxs for the interview
Unholy blessings
